A Message from the Lakeview Elementary School Office

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year, Lakeview Families!

The school has been so quiet without students in our halls. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone on Tuesday, August 26 for the first day of school!  The daily school schedule for elementary students begins at 8:55 a.m. with dismissal at 3:40 p.m. The first week of school is just a three day week, which seems to help ease our youngest Miners into their new school routine. The Lakeview office opens for the school year on Monday, August 11th. Office staff will be present Monday - Friday, from 7:30-3:00, to help answer any questions you may have as you get ready for the new school year.

There will be some new faces among the staff at Lakeview Elementary this year!. Mrs. Walters accepted the NMS principal position and although she will be very missed, we are excited to welcome Mrs. Kaiti Augustine as our new assistant principal. Mrs. Augustine cannot wait to meet all of our wonderful Lakeview families! We have several other new faces who are excited for the new school year; Ms. Emma Oldt will be teaching 2nd grade, Ms. Carlee Yon will be teaching 3rd grade,  Ms. Leah Root and Ms. Hannah Nordeen will be resource teachers, and Mrs. Jodi Johnson will be our Reading/Math Interventionist.

Please plan to attend the Open House for your student’s grade – the Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Open House will be held Wednesday, August 20th from 5:00-6:00pm, and the First-Fourth Grade Open House will take place on Thursday, August 21st from 5:00-6:00pm. This is your chance to meet teachers, drop off supplies, ask questions, and explore Lakeview. We hope to see you all there!

The 2025-2026 school year handbook can be found on Powerschool and our website. Please be sure to read the handbook with your children, review the bus rules, and the School/Parent Code of Conduct. We appreciate your support to make sure everyone  understands the expectations and school rules at Lakeview Elementary. Please fill out the e-collect forms through your Powerschool parent account BEFORE the first day of school. If you need support, please reach out to the Lakeview Office at 906-475-7803.

We want everyone to get to and from school safely, so we ask that all families read and follow the drop-off and pick-up rules. Parents transporting their students will use Hungerford Avenue to drop off and pick up. Drop off on Hungerford Avenue begins at  8:35 am. Remember that the Croix St circle is a bus drop off and there is no parking in that area between 8:30am- 9:00am in and 3:00pm-4:00 pm.

The 2025-2026 bus schedule is being finalized while we gather the addresses of Lakeview students, and it will be made available as soon as possible. Please remember that bus times are approximate and students should be at their bus stop at least 10 minutes early, especially on the first day/week of school. In the event your child needs to be dropped at a destination other than your home (or scheduled drop) after school, please be sure to include the name, address, and bus number of the alternate location on your note to the teacher.  Phone calls for last minute changes must be made prior to 2:30 p.m. to ensure your child is notified and changes can be made before dismissal. Once the bus schedule is shared, if you have any questions regarding your child’s bus number or driver, please call Mike Wommer, Transportation Director, at 906-475-4714.

We once again will offer a Chromebook program for students. Parents will have the opportunity to enroll in the program that will allow students to take their Chromebook device home. Please see the information on Powerschool e-collect to participate in this opportunity.

We can’t wait to see the students fill the classrooms and playgrounds of Lakeview Elementary very soon. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth, and each day, we will strive to be Miners who "Dig Deep" together!  If you have any questions, please feel free to stop in during office hours, or call us at 906-475-7803.

Warmest Regards,

Ms. Holman and Mrs. Augustine
